Unprofessional making fun of Olympus DSLR’s. I use canon, but I think Olympus has great colors and IQ in controlled settings. They are not as versatile as Canon and Nikon, but they do some things wonderfully.

    Awesome video however. Thanks!

    Olympus is great.

    Great work Lee

@Dariodee all im saying is that its misguided information. he talks about not having good equipment, when he has this godlike setup of lights (if you for some reason do not believe me, look at the first part of the photo shoot) which HAD to have cost ALOT of money regardless. and although the lowes lights and umbrella’s may be cheap, they also brought in a BEAUTIFUL model with complete professional make up work to use in the photos. these are not at all things that just any person can get.

  6. Dariodee Says:

    @juststeezy
This shoot it about doing a pro-quality shoot with cheap equipment, so, if you want ALL the gear to be at the same level, use an iPhone, Lowe’s lights, and umbrellas (which are cheap). You could do the whole thing for well under $400. (btw, note that the shoot isn’t about using natural lighting. Maybe that’s where we’re confused)

    This is so inspirational!

  9. iGookin Says:

@nico3641 it’s just showing you don’t need a super expensive camera to shoot stuff.. they’re just telling you how much light effects the quality of a photo..

  10. FStoppers Says:

@nico3641 No, but you do need good lighting to make any picture look good. Keep in mind that good does not equal expensive.

  11. juststeezy Says:

@Dariodee … what does that have to do with anything?

  12. cannoir Says:

    true that !

  13. Dariodee Says:

    @juststeezy
Get some Lowe’s lights… they work perfectly.

  14. DiamondModels Says:

That was very hot, I use my iPhone 4 to do my video blogs but now I’m going to do a photo shoot with it and send you some of the pic.

  15. pomssi1 Says:

Seriously people, of course he has studio lighting. He even says he is going to do this like any other shoot.

  16. SuperNisch Says:

equipment contra photographer, interesting but not new discussion, the great thing here is the music : )

  17. mmaarrttee Says:

    wow, amazing!

  18. electriktricks Says:

@kdemik what he’s trying to say is that a $500 phone can (in some ways) replace the hassleblad or phase one digital MF camera’s that cost $40,000 plus.

Any commerical shoot for any commercial magazine is always shot in studio lighting, even if it looks like it was shot outdoors (there is always lighting or at least reflectors)

so what he’s trying to say is that the thing that records the image is not important- the scene behind the image is. Cover shoots are never candid

  19. electriktricks Says:

@nico3641 that is the point- a 3000 dollar canon slr is not the magic wand to make your ‘backyard’ photos look professional

any camera is now capable of capturing a good image. Lighting/a good model are always necessary for good results, daylight is not good lighting
I realised this when I was saving for a canon 5d and realized my 6 year old SLR was not to blame for my images, I put some time into learning lighting and now I get fantastic results
my camera is even lower spec than the iphone

Listen up guys. If you want to get in on an iPhone 4 testing promotion. You test it – you keep it. You just have to fill out a survey on it.

Inside my channel you’ll be able to find out more.

  21. kdemik Says:

Alright, he is right about you can use any camera to create amazing pictures but…… Did you see all those lighting equipment he had? and what I found even funnier is that he was then sending it to a re-toucher.. Not many beginners have the luxury.

Right about using any camera wrong in the way he went about it… BLAH!

No surprises here…the camera is the least important piece of the puzzle. Creative vision, subject matter, lighting and post skills are all vastly more important to making a great photograph.

  24. iatvt Says:

Dear Mr Morris, I find your comments on Olympus SLR cameras upsetting, there not that bad and people like me do use them. I don’t know how you sleep at night. :’-(

  25. sublipara Says:

“I’m going to be shooting with an Olympus SLR….” that was hilarious!
